Detail:

This course is for practitioners working with children and young people across Derby and Derbyshire with responsibility for safeguarding, who contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child where there are safeguarding concerns. The multi-agency training is designed to give delegates a greater understanding of the Three Steps to Baby Safety Strategy which underpins the work to support families with babies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the vulnerabilities of babies.
  • Recognise additional vulnerabilities in families and promote professional curiosity.
  • Explain the risks of unsafe sleep practice and how to promote safer sleep.
  • Practice how to promote safer handling to reduce accidental injury.
  • Explore the risk of infant crying and non-accidental head injury.
  • Apply the learning from local case reviews to enhance your practice and keep it up to date.

During the training you will be asked to take part in various interactive activities. To promote engagement, please keep your cameras on when working in breakout rooms to support interaction with the group.

Course materials will be available to download 10 days before the event. A copy of the slides and links to documents and further readings will be available after completing your evaluation.

Safeguarding training is of high importance and as a partnership we need to be satisfied that the learning outcomes have been achieved before providing a certificate of attendance. Any delegate joining more than 15 minutes late for training will not be eligible for a certificate and will be asked to rebook.
