Level 3 Training for designated safeguarding leads, managers and practitioners

This training is to support practitioners in learning more about Private Fostering and their obligations. The briefing is recommended for all practitioners working with children and young people across all agencies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • To understand the definition of Private Fostering
  • To understand the difference between a Looked After Child and a child who is Privately Fostered
  • To know why it is important to be able to identify children living in a Private Fostering arrangement and understand the additional issues that come with living in this arrangement
  • To understand the role and responsibilities of professionals when working with or visiting a family or child in respect of Private Fostering
  • To know the role and responsibility of the Local Authority when a child/young person is identified as being Privately Fostered
  • How to make a referral

During the training you will be asked to take part in various interactive activities.

Course materials will be available to download 10 days before the event. A copy of the slides and links to documents and further readings will be available after completing your evaluation.

Safeguarding training is of high importance and as a partnership we need to be satisfied that the learning outcomes have been achieved before providing a certificate of attendance. Any delegate joining more than 15 minutes late for training will not be eligible for a certificate and will be asked to rebook.
