Learning outcomes:

• Identify key local safeguarding issues for schools and colleges.
• Respond to changes in local safeguarding guidance, risk assessments (EHCPs) and legislation in terms of the impact on practice in schools and colleges
• Understand updates to Children’s Social Care services and how these apply to schools and colleges to promote stronger partnerships and better outcomes for children
• Apply the Stopping Domestic Abuse Together initiative to improve responses for children living in households affected by domestic abuse
• Recognise challenges facing young people in relation to emotional well-being and mental health and use key practice principles to assess when a child may be at risk of suicide or self-harm behaviour.
• Understand learning from local reviews and how it impacts on practice for schools and colleges
