About this event

Join us at the relaunch of the Stopping Domestic Abuse Together (SDAT), an initiative led by Derbyshire Constabulary and our local version of Operation Encompass.

Living in a household where there is domestic abuse can have a serious impact on children and young people’s emotional, mental and physical well-being. In some cases, it can have lasting effects well into adulthood. SDAT notifies schools at the earliest opportunity that a child or young person may have been exposed to domestic abuse. This process allows schools to better understand the individual child or young person’s circumstances and effectively support and respond to their needs in the education setting.

Following on from consultation with Derby and Derbyshire schools, changes have been made to SDAT processes and schools SDAT guidance has been developed.

Who are the briefings for? The free briefing sessions are for Designated Safeguarding Leads in Derby and Derbyshire schools as well as representatives from Children’s Services, Health and Police organisational development and learning teams.
