Detail:
This course is for practitioners working with children and young people across Derby and Derbyshire with responsibility for safeguarding, who contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child where there are safeguarding concerns.
The multi-agency training is designed to raise awareness of the impact of domestic abuse and for practitioners to feel more confident in their ability to recognise and respond to the needs of children. It is recommended that delegates complete the Introduction to Domestic Abuse e-learning course first, which provides the background to domestic abuse.
Learning Outcomes:
- Defining domestic abuse
- Understand the impact of domestic abuse on the non-abusing parent and how this can affect their capacity to care for their children
- Identify how domestic abuse can adversely impact on children’s safety, development and emotional well-being
- Know how to respond to any concerns around domestic abuse
- Understand some of the additional risk factors associated with domestic abuse, including mental ill health, substance misuse / alcohol use
- Have an awareness of the roles and responsibilities of different agencies in providing services to parents and children experiencing domestic abuse
During the training you will be asked to take part in various interactive activities. To promote engagement, please keep your cameras on when working in breakout rooms to support interaction with the group.
Course materials will be available to download 10 days before the event. A copy of the slides and links to documents and further readings will be available after completing your evaluation.
Safeguarding training is of high importance and as a partnership we need to be satisfied that the learning outcomes have been achieved before providing a certificate of attendance. Any delegate joining more than 15 minutes late for training will not be eligible for a certificate and will be asked to rebook.
