Detail:

This course is for practitioners working with children and young people across Derby and Derbyshire with responsibility for safeguarding, who contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child where there are safeguarding concerns. The multi-agency training is designed to give delegates a greater understanding of the Three Steps to Baby Safety Strategy which underpins the work to support families with babies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the specific vulnerabilities of babies
  • Understand the risk of infant crying
  • Have a good knowledge of safe sleep practice, the importance of safe handling and the advice around safe baby equipment and home safety messages
  • Identify the issues relating to 'Shaken Baby' and bruising in babies
  • Describe how to develop responsive parenting
  • Understand learning from child practice reviews to ensure babies thrive
  • Recognise additional vulnerabilities in families and promote professional curiosity

During the training you will be asked to take part in various interactive activities. To promote engagement, please keep your cameras on when working in breakout rooms to support interaction with the group.

Course materials will be available to download 10 days before the event. A copy of the slides and links to documents and further readings will be available after completing your evaluation.

Safeguarding training is of high importance and as a partnership we need to be satisfied that the learning outcomes have been achieved before providing a certificate of attendance. Any delegate joining more than 15 minutes late for training will not be eligible for a certificate and will be asked to rebook.
