Detail:

This course is for practitioners working with children and young people across Derby and Derbyshire with responsibility for safeguarding, who contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child where there are safeguarding concerns. The multi-agency training is designed to give delegates a greater understanding of some of the barriers that may exist when working with families to keep children safe.

Learning Objectives

  • To develop skills in working with resistant families and ensure workers and children are safeguarded
  • Describe the barriers to effective engagement with families and reasons why parents and children can be fearful of contact
  • Describe how practitioners can develop a productive relationship with families to foster trust, openness and respect and keep the child in focus

During the training you will be asked to take part in various interactive activities. To promote engagement, please keep your cameras on when working in breakout rooms to support interaction with the group.

Course materials will be available to download 10 days before the event. A copy of the slides and links to documents and further readings will be available after completing your evaluation.

Safeguarding training is of high importance and as a partnership we need to be satisfied that the learning outcomes have been achieved before providing a certificate of attendance. Any delegate joining more than 15 minutes late for training will not be eligible for a certificate and will be asked to rebook.
